Saturday 1 – Sunday 2 July 2017, 11-6pm
Opening party taking place on Saturday 1 July 6- 10pm.

Game Face brings together a range of visual artists whose work explores the relationship between art and games. Each artist tackles the theme in an idiosyncratic way, examining aspects of games and play through technique, materials and subject. Feminist themes form an integral part of the exhibition; works such as Alex Hovet’s subversion of sleazy computer game character ‘Leisure Suit Larry’ and Han Caroline’s exploration of the perceptions of gamer girls ask the viewer to consider gender roles in games production and consumption.

The exhibition will also include a selection of playable game art. A room full of art board games, shoot ‘em ups, remote control toys and building blocks will give visitors the opportunity to get involved and play along. Game Face will be an inclusive and fun art experience for visitors attending the show and the opening reception, that is set to be another awesome arty party following Sweet ‘Art tradition, including a selection of goodies and freebies from sponsors.

About Sweet ‘Art: Sweet ‘Art is a non-profit art organisation dedicated to the promotion of artists through the delivery of regular site-specific exhibitions. Operating from a feminist ethos, Sweet’ Art places special emphasis on working with artists who are marginalised from the marketplace and aims to provide an accessible and inclusive space for looking at, thinking about and debating art.
