As part of their creative season, Ugly Duck is really happy to invite Lumen for the unique event School of Light.

School of Light will take place on 3rd-5th February 2017 and will be a showcase of artists that explore the relationship between astronomy and light. This will showcase many of the artists who have contributed to previous exhibitions and residencies, since Lumen’s launch in September 2014, as well as new names too.

Friday 3rd February: Exhibition Opening Party (with possible telescope viewing session!!)
Saturday 4th February:
AFTERNOON: Talks between astronomers and artists.
EVENING: Sound Performances by Spaceheads with Rucksack Cinema and Look Mum No Computer
Sunday 5th February: Workshops TBC
PERFORMANCES: Simon Barraclough will read and perform work from his astrophysics-inflected books Neptune BlueSunspotsandLaboratorio, touching on the sacred and the profane, the scientific and the political.

Lumen is an art collective, focused on themes of astronomy and light, regularly exhibiting in churches as well as galleries.
Through art, exhibitions and seminars we aim to raise a dialogue about how humanity understands existence.
The members of Lumen are Louise Beer, Melanie King and Rebecca Huxley.
