SUMMARY:UGLY DUCK PRESENT THE PREMIERE OF SIGALA
DESCRIPTION:SIGALA IS A MOVEMENT EXPERIMENT THAT COMBINES DANCE AND FINE ART PERFORMANCE TO INTERROGATE THE DYNAMICS OF SOCIALIZATION…\nSIGALA is a movement experiment that combines dance and fine art performance to interrogate the dynamics of socialization\, kinship\, time\, and intergenerational connection initially prescribed through the nuclear family. Three performers deconstruct and shapeshift between the roles of “mother\, father\, and child\,” through an ungendering and dis/embodiment of mythologies\, personal histories\, and the collective unconscious; locating elysium fields as adolescent liminality and hand clap games as ritual. SIGALA is directed by Anju Marie Kasturiraj\, features performances by Nat Li Lin Steinhouse\, Gabriel Bonet\, and Maria Kontouli\, and was devised together by all four of them.

SUMMARY:MAKING A NARRATIVE ARK
DESCRIPTION:IS CONTINUITY OR DISCONTINUITY MORE IMPORTANT IN STORYTELLING? HOW CAN WE THINK OF NARRATION AS A TRANSFORMATIVE JOURNEY?\nThe ship wherein Theseus and the youth of Athens returned from Crete had thirty oars\, and was preserved by the Athenians down even to the time of Demetrius Phalereus\, for they took away the old planks as they decayed\, putting in new and stronger timber in their places\, insomuch that this ship became a standing example among the philosophers\, for the logical question of things that grow; one side holding that the ship remained the same\, and the other contending that it was not the same. \n— Plutarch\, Theseus \nMAKING A NARRATIVE ark is a three-part workshop for artists\, writers and performers to experiment with storytelling as a practice of displacement. Each of the sessions will focus on gathering\, replacing\, and floating the ideas and material to produce a collection where the emphasis is not on coherence and completion\, but inconsistency and in-progression. \nWhat makes it into the ship and what doesn’t? This thought experiment blurs the distinction between creation and rehearsal\, between departure and arrival\, sameness and difference. We’ve been here before\, but this practice is no longer the same. \nThe text/images/sounds/gestures we bring will form the basis of a pirate radio broadcast on twitch: a stream of collective consciousness which bears the wake of our sailing ship. \nThe series of workshops will be hosted by Frances Whorrall-Campbell on Zoom at 6pm on 8\, 15\, and 22 March. All skill levels and practices welcome\, but the sessions will be particularly focused on exploring sound\, images\, text and movement in an interdisciplinary way. \nArtist bio: Frances Whorrall-Campbell is an artist\, writer and cultural worker. Their current research approaches confusion as trans method\, working with puns and parody to explore the affective- and effectiveness of this strategy. This has resulted in publications\, performances\, and participatory events which consider what it means to be an authority on one’s own life. In 2020-1\, Frances was a (digital) resident at Wysing Arts Centre\, and in 2021-23 they are a Research Associate at the Centre for Contemporary Art Derry~Londonderry.

SUMMARY:UGLY DUCK & KINESIS COLLECTIVE PRESENTS: SHOCKED QUARTZ
DESCRIPTION:‘SHOCKED QUARTZ’ WILL PRESENTS 13 ARTISTS FROM THE TRANS\, NON-BINARY AND INTERSEX COMMUNITIES.\n\n\nHow does our relationship to survival change over time? Is crisis something we have become too attached to as an educational tool? How may shock\, or shaking\, give way to alternatives? \nShocked Quartz takes its name from the metamorphic features that develop on rocks during a highly pressured event such as a meteorite crash or natural disaster. Currently\, the transgender movement has reached a specific moment in history\, which some describe as the ‘transgender tipping point’. It is a moment of rupture\, dissensus\, and instability\, but also an opportunity and potential – a shaking of structure and the production of new meanings. Shocked Quartz will examine themes of political and personal crisis\, initiating dialogue around how queer\, transgender people survive during tumultuous times. \nFeaturing Artists\n\nLou Lou Sainsbury\nTirdad Hashemi\nPuer Deorum\nAlex Diamond-Rivlin\nGray Wielebinski\nMatthew Rimmer\nRudy Loewe\nDeen Atger\nShadi Al-Atallah\nEve Stainton\nEbun A Sodipo\nRomeo Roxman\n\nCo-curated by Alex Diamond-Rivlin and Deen Atger

SUMMARY:DE-ORIENTED
DESCRIPTION:THE DE-ORIENTED EXHIBITION WILL FEATURE EMERGING SOUTHEAST ASIAN ARTISTS LIVING AND WORKING IN LONDON\nThe aim of the exhibition is to challenge stereotypes and misunderstandings of Southeast Asia. \nThere are common misconceptions surrounding Southeast Asian countries and cultures within the UK\, where the image of white palm-lined beaches often mask the tumultuous political and social reality. Today\, Southeast Asian nations are on the frontline of the climate emergency\, facing political unrest and outdated gender roles. They are also\, however\, a place where so many call home. Though the exhibition will aim to draw attention to stigmas around Southeast Asian cultures\, it will take a light hearted and humorous approach to the subject matter. \nTaking place in the Bermondsey’s ‘Ugly Duck’ on 49 Tanner Street\, the exhibition will be a collaboration of Central Saint Martins students and alumni as well as unaffiliated London-based artists of Southeast Asian heritage\, showcasing the works ranging from illustrations\, films to installation\, and performance. \nWe believe that a range of mixed practices can open up conversation and an exchange of ideas for all communities. It is our hope that the work on show within this exhibition will inspire openness to visitors. \nExhibition De-Oriented will culminate in the launch of the An.other Asian (AOA)\, an artist-led collective. The goal of AOA is to create a safe space for all Southeast Asian artists to foster and present ideas. Ultimately\, AOA aims to create an open platform for artistic and cultural exchanges among artists\, cultural workers\, and intellectuals from different backgrounds through activities such as exhibitions\, showcases\, workshops\, film screenings\, art talks\, and discussions.

SUMMARY:SECOND SKIN
DESCRIPTION:AN EVENING EXPLORING MULTIPLE TRANS-IDENTITIES THROUGH FILMS\, PERFORMANCES AND DISCUSSIONS\n\n\n\nUgly Duck is incredibly proud to invite Hélène Alix Mourrier to present their latest film HERMAN@S (SiblingX) for the first time in London at Ugly Duck.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nFilms \n \nHERMAN@S (SiblingX) – 28 min \nOne night in Mexico in October 2011\, a dream of a mysterious and prescient bird inspired a manifesto\, written in one breath. It gave birth to Cuco\, a transgender latex pirate. Cuco first appeared one December night in a club in France. But\, Cuco is not just a simple night owl. By coming up against transphobia and the state of emergency\, they begin to ally themselves with other lives left behind. HERMAN@S follows this little knight of night and day through every event they create as they try to form of recognition and resistance with those they calls mis hermanas\, mis hermanos. \n \nIntimate Thread – 16 min \nIntimate Threads is a joint performance across continents. Bunny Cadag embodies the precolonial figure of a Babaylan (shamans in the pre-colonial Philippines) channeling the spirit of the Snake Woman\, the offspring of the mythopoetic practice of Niya B. \nDefying the colonial patriarchal narratives\, the artists co-inhabit a space of possibilities for trans species and trans cultural entanglements to create a storytelling\, that is inclusive of the plurality of gender and of non-human species. \nPerformances  \n \nCYBITCH (becoming a cyborg bitch) – Hélène Alix Mourrier \nCYBITCH is a performance that takes the figure of the BITCH\, as a figure to invest and to live as\, to rethink the assignments\, the hindrances\, the empowerment and the affective acts that resource our bodies and our struggles. The proposal is based on radical feminist texts from the 70’s (SCUM Manifesto by Valerie Solanas and BITCH Manifesto by Joreen) mixed with personal writings to create an explosive cut-up technique with an intimate and viral texture that gives power to make the private\, political. BITCH uses the practice of clubbing in order to reverse the relation of forces\, the glances\, to join in the common space of bodies which form together to create alliances. \nBecause BITCH is unleashed\, BITCH wants to get off\, between them and with the whole Universe. \n \nJoseph Morgan Schofield \nJoseph Morgan Schofield (b. 1993\, Rochdale\, UK) uses performance\, moving image\, writing and curation to create ‘queer ritual action’. This action explores desire\, grief\, ecology and the wilding of queer and trans* futurity. Their practice is relational\, emerging through encounters between the sweating\, wanting\, sensate non-binary body and a host of human/other-than agents. \nwww.josephmorganschofield.com

SUMMARY:DEEP MEANINGFUL CONVERSATION
DESCRIPTION:DEEP MEANINGFUL CONVERSATION CURATED BY BABETTE WHITING AND HUGO HAGGER\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n‘From the tunnels\, from the sewers\, where two rat armies were locked in a life-and- death battle\, came a wish of wastewater\, a subterranean subtext. Today was a beautiful day.’ –Bohumil Hrabal\, Too Loud a Solitude \n‘The tunnel is a political site\, but in itself it is not ideological. Moral or corrupt\, it does not discriminate between its users. It is fragile and fickle\, vulnerable to infiltration and appropriation\, and liable to collapse – but through its ability to subvert\, disrupt and elide\, its work is always against power.’ – Lili Zarzycki\, The Architectural Review issue 1480 \nThe Well to Hell Hoax of 1989\, was first circulated by an American religious broadcasting network\, reporting that a Soviet scientific programme in Siberia had drilled a borehole so deep that they had broken through to hell. In their account\, upon reaching 14.4km depth they were met with an apparent chamber of fire\, and dropped down a heat tolerant microphone only to hear the ‘screams of the tormented’. \nThese ‘screams of the tormented’ featured in the broadcast transpired to be various loops and samples taken from the 1972 Italian horror film; Baron Blood.\nIn 1970 the Soviet Union began drilling the Kola Superdeep Borehole\, located not in Siberia but on the Kola Peninsula bordering Norway and Finland. The project was completed in 1989\, the hole reached a depth of over 12km\, but only 9 inches in diameter\, making it the deepest artificial point in the world. The borehole is now\nwelded shut. \nThe hoax provided fertile ground to explore ideas of the deep\, of depth\, of subcultures\, the clandestine\, of moving against power in the warrens of illegibility. This exhibition (and accompanying book) is founded on a group research project into the subterranean.\nIn a world seemingly resolute in its own immolation\, these artists dive prematurely underground. They reckon with the second world beneath our feet\, the dark (non) places in which bodies might define themselves away from socialised codification\, places that hold mystical knowledge\, places of danger and of rescue. They deviate with rats\, burrowing alternative networks of thinking and discovering new\, non-hegemonic strategies with which to build meaning. \nArtists\nHugo Hagger  Artist/Curator \nwww.hugohagger.co.uk // @hugohagger  \nBabette Whiting Artist/Curator \nwww.babettewhiting.co.uk  @Babette.whiting  \nChristopher Bond Exhibiting Artist  \n@skysportz \nCeleste Anstruther / Exhibiting Artist  \nwww.anstrutherc.com / @anstrutherc \nJames Sibley / Exhibiting Artist  \nwww.jamessibley.co.uk \nDexter Stokes-Mellor / Exhibiting Artist  \nwww.dexterstokes-mellor.com \nAidan Hendrickse / Exhibiting artist  \n@click_mute

SUMMARY:COURTAULD LGBTQIA+ SOCIETY – ‘CRAFTING OURSELVES’
DESCRIPTION:‘CRAFTING OURSELVES’\n\n\n\n\nIn collaboration with Ugly Duck\, Courtauld LGBTQIA+ Society is staging a 3-day event of LGBTQIA+ craft\nFrom We’wha’s Native American textiles\, to Bloomsbury Group ceramics\, to t-shirts dyed by the Lavender Menace\, craft has long been a key part of LGBTQIA+ visibility\, creativity\, identity and community. To further this\, we are organising a free and accessible showcase of LGBTQIA+ crafts\, which will provide opportunities for artistic interactions between underrepresented artists and Ugly Duck’s community of visitors\, with the aim of enhancing intersectional LGBTQIA+ solidarities. \nThe show will be opening on the Friday at 6-9PM and will be open both Saturday and Sunday at 9AM-6PM. For the event’s exhibition\, the Courtauld LGBTQIA+ Society’s Committee are selecting a broad range of artworks—everything from textile works to ceramics to papercrafts—that contribute to ‘crafting’ LGBTQIA+ identities and communities. As well as the art works on display\, they will have an interactive mural that visitors will be invited to add to (with collage materials supplied) throughout the three days. They are also planning on hosting a little workshop and film screening at some point during the weekend (details TBC). \nThe Courtauld LGBTQIA+ Society is an intersectional space and platform for students to discuss issues that are important to our queer\, trans and intersex lives. Anyone can come and enjoy our wide range of events – from talks held by professional queer curators to less formal Queer Art Show and Tell evenings\, to even less formal wine-fuelled socials and film screenings. The society has been going for five years now and we can’t wait to welcome you to this supportive community \n

SUMMARY:TYLOR AND VINCENT: SPACE (SHARING)
DESCRIPTION:TYLOR AND VINCENT: SPACE\n \nWe are Tylor and Vincent and we’ve got arts council money to create our own space (COMMA) so we thought we’d share that space with your space and maybe do a show about space (FULL STOP) \nWhat is space (QUESTION MARK) \nIs it outer space (QUESTION MARK) \nIs there inner space (QUESTION MARK) \nWhat’s going on (QUESTION MARK) \nMaybe there’s space between us (like whats this bit here ___________ (QUESTION MARK)) \nWe wanna be astronaut with you  (NO FULL STOP) \n(We will be experimenting with live performance for your viewing pleasure in the space and at home) \n7:30 PM \nUGLY DUCK \nAND ONLINE (CAPTIONED ) \nWHEELCHAIR ACCESSIBLE VENUE \nTylor and Vincent are a silent artistic duo created by Danni Spooner and Andrea Spisto. They exist uniquely in each other’s company as a single entity. Our work centers joy and working within our needs\, at its core. We are gentle\, bold\, caring and ridiculous – filling the room with undertones that communicate our viewpoints as neurodivergent\, queer\, working class\, immigrant\, artists. We are clear and precise in our nonsense. Our work is interdisciplinary; We use film\, performance\, voiceover\, music\, clowning\, improvisation\, interaction and costume. \nRobert Hall – Robert Hall recently graduated from the Digital Arts Computing course at Goldsmiths. Creating a final piece in the middle of lockdown\, Rob was forced to explore online ways of making artwork. He worked with a group of Artists in Residence at Arebyte Gallery\, to help them curate a series of Live-Streams to replace the public programme that would have been held. Out of this came new ideas around creating content live. After lockdown\, Rob started B-Side Live\, a company hoping to use these new ideas to help artists and performers not able to perform in person. Rob has since worked with a variety of artists and performers\, from five piece bands performing out of a warehouse to dancers and movement artists at Ugly Duck Theatre\, mentoring performers in how to best translate their live performance into one that works online.

SUMMARY:MOVING PHOTON
DESCRIPTION:MOVING PHOTON\n\nMoving Photon is an interactive installation/performance created by installation artist Friendred Peng that explores embodiment\, social connection and remote presence during the age of the pandemic. This work translates physiological data from live EEG recordings to an installation and explores embodied approaches in computational synergized space. \nIn this piece\, EEG data is streamed live to control the morphology of an installation during a dance performance. The perception of the machine by the participant is translated into movement\, manipulating the viewers’ experience and creating a perceptive feedback loop of human-machine communication. \nVisitors may also register for an interactive experience with the installation\, where wearable devices will capture the movement of the body to orchestrate the motion of the installation. \nThere will be a virtual event during one of the evening performances during which participants will be able to interact remotely through a web browser and their mobile phones to explore a sense of presence through a virtual interface and experience collective social connection. \n\n \n\nBookings \nParticipation in Moving Photon can be in 5 different ways\, including a Phantom performance\, interactive installation\, interactive performance\, interactive performance with EEG and a remote performance. \nDuring the Phantom performance which will happen every morning\, you will be experiencing an environment consisting of pre-recorded brain wave data from previous participants while they watch the dancer improvising. During the nights there will be performances you can register to attend. You can either choose to wear an EEG cap to watch the performance while the data is live streamed feeding into the installation directly or to be a spectator. The dancer will improvise according to the live manifestation of brainwave data. In the afternoon prior to the evening performances\, you can book an interactive installation ticket where you can experience the installation using wearable sensors and data to directly control its movement. \n*If you choose to participate for the EEG\, you will be contacted by us prior to the performance with more detailed information. \n*If you choose to participant participate remotely\, a few things you might want to know before attending the performance: \n\nInstructions will be sent out to you\, and you will be asked to download an app on your mobile device\nWe will have a technical support team to help you to download and connect to our server to control the performance onsite\nYou will need to attend the performance online half an hour before it starts\n\nPerformance dates \n5th – 9th January 2022 \nAbout the artist: \nFriendred is an installation and computational artist currently based in London. He is a lecturer in Digital Media at UCL and is in completion of his PhD at Goldsmiths\, University of London\, researching the intertwined relationship between technology and performance arts in the field of HCI. \nFriendred has been focused on disciplines crossing arts\, technology and sciences. His recent work bridged the conversation between movement and algorithmic machines\, exploring the sensory apparatus and interactive systems. Through the exploration of technologized elements and societal influences and entangled relationships with other disciplines\, the emergence of embodiment\, technologized performance and the architectural body have emerged as his main interests. \nHis works were published on several well-known design and technology platforms including DesignBoom and CreativeApplications and has won several prestigious awards including Shanghai Da Shi Award\, the Bronze prize in the third Cultural and Creative Design Competition amongst others. SUMMARY:TYLOR AND VINCENTS – THE LAB
DESCRIPTION:THE LAB BY TYLOR AND VINCENT\n\n\nArtist duo Tylor and Vincent want to extend their supportive neuroqueer environment of creating and experimenting through THE LAB. What do they mean by “neuroqueer”? In this context they are defining neuroqueer as people who are both queer and neurodivergent (autistic\, adhd\, add\, ocd\, bpd\, etc.) Formal diagnosis is not required. \nTHE LAB \n\n\nThe LAB is a free two day experience for 15 participants\, where we centre neuroqueer creativity and process. The space will be both fluid and held by andrea and danni and supported by our facilitators.\ \nWorkshops will be given by andrea and danni as well as our facilitators who have expertise in varying areas of performance making and wellbeing. \nThese workshops will provide an opportunity to experiment and create the beginnings of a creative idea. \nThe workshops will include movement\, stimming\, music\, video\, character\, poetry and wellbeing (e.g. tarot) \nThere will be breaks throughout the day \nThe space will be co-facilitated and co-produced where we blend down the hierarchies of teacher/leader/student/attendee \nThe LAB will focus on creating a balance of verbal and non-verbal communication. There will be both. \n15 participants \nThere will be 3 workshop facilitators\, plus andrea and danni \nSensory goody bag (stim toys\, notebook\, pen\, etc.) \nOpportunity to explore and experiment creatively as a group and individually \nA chance to be around other neurodivergent queer folk \n\n\nWHO THIS LAB IS FOR \nPeople who are interested in creating and sharing work \nPeople who are interested in creatively experimenting \nPeople who are craving the magic that happens when neuroqueer people come together and focus on joy \nPeople interested in the ridiculousness of the ridiculous \nPeople interested in  nonsense as the-most-sense \nPeople who are already on a journey in art making/performance making/creative endeavours (at any level) (this includes in your bedroom) \n\n\nABOUT TYLOR AND VINCENT \nTylor and Vincent are an artistic duo created by Danni Spooner and Andrea Spisto. They exist uniquely in each other’s company as a single entity. Danni and Andrea met at an R&D in 2018 and have worked as Tylor and Vincent since. \nOur work centres joy and our needs\, at its core\, as opposed to a more traditional “technique” based practice. We are gentle\, bold\, caring and ridiculous – filling the room with undertones that communicate our viewpoints as neurodivergent\, queer\, working class\, immigrant\, artists. We are clear and precise in our nonsense. Our work is interdisciplinary; We use film\, performance\, voiceover\, music\, clowning\, improvisation and costume. \n\nThis was written by danni and andrea who are both neurodivergent. We understand if you have questions / if so please email tylorandvincenttv@gmail.com \n\nTylor and Vincent: \nhttps://www.andreaspisto.com/tv-the-pilot \nhttps://www.andreaspisto.com/tv-pussy-and-money \nhttps://www.andreaspisto.com/tv-home \nhttps://www.instagram.com/tylorandvincent/?hl=en \nDanni:  \nhttps://www.instagram.com/dannisp00ner/ \nhttps://www.tiktok.com/@dannisp00ner \nDre: \nwww.andreaspisto.com

SUMMARY:CIRCLE OF IDIOTS
DESCRIPTION:CIRCLE OF IDIOTS\n\nHave you ever thought you’re a total idiot? Good news! You probably are. \nThere’s a whole world of beautiful performance to be made if we can get in touch with our magnificent inner idiot\, take a risk\, follow our impulse and find the pleasure in playing from exactly who we are. \nIn this workshop\, we’ll play games\, explore presence technique\, laugh at each other\, laugh at ourselves\, perhaps cry a bit (hope not too much crying) and get some great insight into who we are as performers and people and the incredible potential to be found in working with what we’ve got. \nAnd we’ll work in the round! The circle is a powerful symbol of infinity\, inclusivity and completeness\, a space where nothing is wrong and everything has meaning. If we want! \nYou are cordially invited to join me in stepping into the ridiculous\, infinite unknown. \nSuitable for: professional performers/directors\, creatives of all kinds\, anyone who interacts with humans. \nLucy Hopkins is an award-winning clown\, creative consultant and High Priestess of Idiot. The foundation of all of her work is her full-hearted belief that people are tremendous. \nhttps://www.lucyhopkins.com \n\nTICKETS\n£120 Concession price/ £150 Standard price

SUMMARY:WORLDING BEYOND RACIAL CAPITALISM
DESCRIPTION:BLACK HORIZON’S – WORLDING WITHIN THE RUINS OF RACIAL CAPITALISM\n\nThe current students from ADS2 will run a series of collective workshops + activities surrounding the theme of ‘Worlding: Beyond Racial Capitalism’. \nADS2 is a student collective from the Royal College of Art guided by Dele Adeyemo\, Ibiye Camp and Dámaso Randulfe. \n \nTheir work is framed from multiple worldviews\, exploring the origins of logistical capitalism and racial capitalism whilst unlearning the Western-centric approaches to architecture and the built environment. In 2019/20 ADS2 looked at the violent world-making project of European cartography with the worlding-potentials of black\, indigenous and other worldviews. In 2021/22\, ADS2 students are building from this work\, exploring the theme: Black Horizons – Worlding within the Ruins of Racial Capitalism. Learning from the global south and drawing from black\, indigenous and other-than-human epistemologies\, the students are creating work that is collaborative\, experimentative and perspective-broadening. \n \n\nOver the course of three days\, fragments of works-in-progress and previous ADS 2 graduates’ work will be displayed through immersive multimedia installation\, readings and open discussions all to ignite conversations with visitors on the topic of Worlding: Beyond Racial Capitalism. \n\nGuests are invited to get involved with the range of live performances\, workshops\, and various events happening throughout the weekend.

SUMMARY:THE SUBLIME 3.0: FEAR AND AWE
DESCRIPTION:THE SUBLIME 3.0: FEAR AND AWE\n\n\n\n\nIn our technological landscape\, what is left of our ideas of the Sublime and Beautiful as conceptualised by Edmund Burke in 1757? Has the virtual enhanced our conception of the sublime? How can this idea be translated into the metaverse?  \nIn this virtual reality exhibition\, we have selected 11 international new media artists – all identifying as women and non-binary. The presented 14 artworks investigate the question of transcendental beauty through concepts associated with the body\, nature\, cyberspace and different realities. \nFrom hyper elegance to delightful horror\, this collection exists in a place in between worlds where everything seems possible. \nYou are invited to wander in the virtual gallery\, during your visit you will encounter 3D artworks\, videos\, stills and digital sculptures\, divided into four different rooms. Each artwork can lead you to additional interactive web-art zones\, immersive worlds or an NFT marketplace. \nOur first room looks at the concept of dis/embodiment with works that dissect\, magnify and deconstruct digital bodies. Wes Viz in Linear Interpolation 1 playfully explores the in-between spaces of movement and the constant flux that occurs even in stillness. Maria Judova in her intermedia piece Everywhen explores the interplay of light and dark within each of us and its relationship to those around us and wider historical patterns that have a tendency to recurrence.  In Victory\, Valentina Ferrandes offers a computational exploration of the algorithmic un- or making of the marble Hellenistic sculpture “Nike of Samothrace”. \nThree gardens are on display in the Cyber Sublime. The video version of Privacy-GrDN by the artist S4ra and in Realness – Intimate Garden by Sandrine Deumier questions the role of surveillance in our lives\, the relationship between surveillance and capitalism\, and the implications of these for control of our digital intimacy. These works offer distinct aesthetics\, both offering visions of a mutant nature. In Linda Loh’s Beyond Agog 2\, fleeting encounters and shifting views present precarious moments of clarity between the elusive and ephemeral realms. The pieces dialogue with each other making us the witness of the modern\, exalted pursuit of a technological sublime. \nWhile you continue your virtual promenade\, you will encounter Sian Fan’s Spore 1 and its computer-generated textures\, produced by photogrammetric scans of plants and flowers to create a sense of sublime tranquillity. Rebeka Guo with Being in a Sandstorm\, and award film-winner\, Dalena Tran’s Incomplete also investigate the link between the natural and the technological. After all\, isn’t all technology based on models and processes found in nature? \nThe last room is a proposition around the feeling of eeriness that can be found in the works of Nicoleta Mures’ characters. With Best Hug and What isn’t There?\, the meta world seeks and acts on things that we seem to know but without making any sense. Finally\, Bolim Jeon translates brilliantly the strange feeling of being alone in a crowd and the only one to notice strange things happening in her 3D artwork In the Belly of a Whale. \nEmbark on a journey in the pursuit of the transcendent and shake\, disrupt and re-invent with the presented artists who give a new meaning to grandiosity\, beauty and the sublime. \n\n\n\nAgora Digital Art are pleased to have in this international group show: \n\n\n\n\n\n\nArtist Wes Viz “Linear Interpolation” (2021)\, UK  @wesviz \nArtist Sandrine Deumier “Realness Intimate Garden” (2019)\, France  @sandrinedeumier \nArtist Maria Judova “Everywhen” (2018-2021)\, Slovakia  @mariajudova \n\n\n\n\n\n\nArtist Valentina Ferrandes “Victory” (2019)\, UK  @valentina.ferran \nArtist Bolim Jeon “In the Belly of a Whale” (2021)\, UK  @bol.lim \nArtist Sian Fan “Spore1” (2020)\, UK  @sianfan \nArtist S4RA “privacy-GrDN.info” (2021) @s.4ra \n\n\n\n\n\n\nArtist Rebekah Boshan Guo “Being in a Sandstorm” (2021)\, UK  @Kah_gkah \nArtist Nicoleta Mures “Best Hug” and “What Isn’t There” (2021)\, Romania  @nicomures \nArtist Linda Loh “Beyond Agog ” (2021)\, Australia  @__lindaloh__ \nArtist Dalena Tran “Incomplete” (2021)\, US  @dalenaxtran \n\nThe exhibition as been selected to be part of the Wrong Biennale \n\n\nPREVIEW:\nPreview evening 26 October 2021 at 18:00 – 21:30 BST | 13:00 NYC \n\n\nWHEN:\nOpening on 1 November 2021 until 31 March 2022 \n\n\n\n\n\n Partners

SUMMARY:CALL TO ARMS
DESCRIPTION:PENTHOUSS PRESENTS A NEW PERFORMANCE WORK CALL TO ARMS EXPLORING THEMES OF POLICING\, CONTROL AND GOVERNANCE.\n\n\n\nOpening in London in October 2021\, CALL TO ARMS is a new immersive artwork by PentHouss that uses dance\, sound\, light\, optical illusion to explore themes of governmental power\, control\, and social unrest.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPentHouss’ artists Anna Lann and Yonathan Trichter\, in collaboration with curator Helen Neven and choreographer Ekin Bernay\, use performance to convey a direct experience of political mobilisation\, appropriating the tools\, movements and uniforms used by systems of power themselves. An exposé of the theatrics of order enforcement\, CALL TO ARMSreflects on the complex relationship between agents of power and the civilians they supposedly protect; on the instrumentalisation of fear; on the duality of “them” and “us” at street level. Movement is dance; movement is assembly; movement is a call to arms.\n\n  \n► Performances are scheduled throughout 22\, 23 and 24 October 2021. Each performance runs for approximately 15 minutes. \n► Limited capacity\, booking in advance highly recommended. Please arrive at least 5 minutes before your time slot. Tickets on the door subject to availability. \n► Please be aware that the performance contains flashing lights. Viewer discretion is advised. \n► We ask that audience members wear face masks\, unless exempt. \n\n\n______________________________________________\nPentHouss\n\nPentHouss is a multidisciplinary art hub producing work that spans performance\, sculpture\, installation and film\, founded by artists Anna Lann and Yonathan Trichter\, based in London and Paris. PentHouss’ rich and distinctive visual vocabulary\, combined with Lann’s scoring\, materialise as cinematic and uncanny universes that explore current issues of our own\, such as power\, technology\, mythos\, and social ritual. \n\nCALL TO ARMS marks the first time that PentHouss will show their work in London\, following displays at Science Gallery Rotterdam\, Holon Design Museum\, Tel Aviv Museum of Modern Art\, MU Eindhoven Museum\, Inbal Dance Theatre Tel Aviv\, and Jaffa Museum amongst others. www.penthouss.com | @penthouss \nHelen Neven\n\nHelen Neven is an independent curator and writer based in London. SUMMARY:DEAR YOUNG MONSTER
DESCRIPTION:THE QUEER HOUSE PRESENTS IN ASSOCIATION WITH UGLY DUCK: DEAR YOUNG MONSTER (WORK IN PROGRESS SHARING)\n\nWritten and performed by Pete Machale\nDirected by Sammy Glover\nDesigned by Cecil Fenn \nThe monster didn’t make the film. He’s not the one telling his story. I see that in that scene… the monster can’t win.” \nPete is the only trans person for miles\, and it feels like everywhere he looks there’s something to be scared of. Like the entire world is full of monsters. Doctors\, drunk lads and sniffy mums hide around every corner ready to pounce and chase you home\, and with danger at every turn sometimes the best option is to puff up your chest and become something bigger\, meaner\, and scarier. \nA sincere\, silly\, sometimes spooky show for weirdos who feel like they’re the only one in the world. Following a young trans man as he navigates his changing body through a small town packed with people who are more likely to be foe than ally. Dear Young Monster by Pete MacHale asks what it means to embrace being the monster that the world keeps telling you that you are. \nDear Young Monster is currently in its research and development stages\, kindly supported by Arts Council England. \nDrinks and music will be provided afterwards \n____________________________________________________________________________ \nThe venue is fully accessible. Wearing masks encouraged.\n____________________________________________________________________________ \nAbout The Queer House:\nThe Queer House is an artists’ agency and producing house for LGBTIQ+ actors\, writers and makers. They are an associate company at the Gate Theatre and HighTide. SUMMARY:I’M HERE – A NEW PERFORMANCE BY FRANKO B
DESCRIPTION:I’M HERE – A NEW PERFORMANCE BY FRANKO B\n\n\nI’m Here is a new performance by Franko B\, in collaboration with Anthony Martin. Known internationally as a pioneering performance artist\, Franko B revisits his seminal bloodletting works for the first time in 15 years through 360° body-mapping techniques. The deep cuts\, at times exaggerated and distorted\, are interwoven with 7000 images from the internet\, to show a global history of war\, abandonment\, homophobia\, freedom\, displacement\, famine and sex through the lense of the camera. The performance confronts the viewers with an emotionally charged choreographed experience that ultimately equates the pain of the individual with the open wounds of society. \n“The past is part of our present. It never left us but is evolving rather than repeating; it is continuing to allow us to make the same mistakes. I believe this is valid for both the personal and political. I’m Here is trying to express these two connected worlds. It doesn’t revisit the past romantically or melancholically but questions and reinterprets it.” – Franko B \nThroughout 2021\, I’m Here is touring across the UK to: Arnolfini\, Bristol; Colchester Arts Centre\, Colchester; Globe Gallery\, Newcastle; Norwich Arts Centre\, Norwich; Ugly Duck\, London. \n\n\nI’m Here is a collaboration with a/political and supported using public funding by Arts Council National Lottery Project Grant. \nThere will be two performances of I’m Here at Ugly Duck on Saturday 11th September. One at 18:30 and another at 19:30.\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\nFRANKO B\nBorn in Milan\, Italy\, 1960. Franko B moved to London in 1979 integrating into the anarcho-punk scene. He began performing in nightclubs\, including the legendary fetish night FIST and\, by way of his blood performances\, was later responsible for bringing subversive body art into the leading art institutions including ICA\, Tate Modern\, and Arnolofini. A pioneering artist\, Franko B uses his body as a tool to explore the themes of the personal\, political\, poetic\, resistance\, suffering and the reminder of our own mortality. Trawling the media everyday\, his body of work responds to contemporary politics through the lens of the vulnerable individual. His practice spans curating\, drawing\, installation\, performance and sculpture. \nANTHONY MARTIN\nAfter graduating in Engineering and Graphic Design\, Anthony Martin created his design studio in 2005. In 2009\, he became the assistant of contemporary artist Andrei Molodkin\, working alongside him on the development of the experimental art space The Foundry\, built from a 19th century metal foundry in Midi-Pyrénées\, France. He has also worked on the production and graphic design for projects with renowned artists including Santiago Sierra\, Andres Serrano and Erik Bulatov. In 2017\, Anthony Martin integrated into the non-profit art organisation a/political as Production and Design Manager\, affirming his visual signature\, conceiving and producing large-scale industrial sculptures\, paintings and installations worldwide.

SUMMARY:OTHERNESS X THE CHATEAU X UGLY DUCK FILM PROGRAMME
DESCRIPTION:A NIGHT OF FILMS HIGHLIGHTING TRANSFORMATIVE EXPERIENCES OF TRANS AND GNC PEOPLE\n\ntherness Archive in support of The Chateau has created a short film program highlighting the beautiful and transformative experiences of trans and GNC people. Join us for a no-cost screening night featuring work from the 80s to today. \nThis event is in partnership with Ugly Duck. \nScreening programme: \nThe Corrective Kiss by Lauren John Joseph (2020) UK\n[To live is to perform\, the world outside our front door a mere stage. But\, what happens when a pandemic makes us afraid to cross the threshold.] \nTerror\, Sisters! by Alexis Langlois ( 2019) France\n[Today is a day like any other for Kalthoum and her girlfriends. They sip cocktails\, look for sex on the internet\, impatiently want love and\, once again\, suffer the transphobic insults of strangers.] \nPlus more films to be announced in the coming days! \n \nAccessibility: Films are subtitled in English. The Venue is wheelchair accessible and does not require stair access. \nOtherness Archive: \nThe Otherness Archive defies the historic censorship of homosexual\, trans and racial themes\, and instead highlights them as representations of otherness that deserve equal\, if not greater\, recognition. Otherness acts as a route into complex narratives and subjectivities that make for richer cinema. We honor and highlight our community of trans masc\, trans male\, trans nonbinary\, trans freminine\, trans women and gender-queer people through the language of cinema. As well as groups of artists and writers from the trans* community who discuss and share films that had an impact on them and the history of their subcultures.  – @Otherness_Archive \nThe Chateau: \nWe are The Chateau\, an underground DIY LGBTIQA+ bar\, cultural space and performance collective for South East London\, created by and for queers. Branded as “revolutionary” by Time Out Magazine\, our purpose is to address the severe lack of safer spaces for the LGBTIQA+ community in SE London. Since 2006 official figures showed across London 58% of LGBTQIA+ venues have closed\, in Southwark borough that figure is 67%\, and in neighbouring Lewisham it is 100%. Originally born as a 2 month DIY queer pop-up in an empty religious themed cocktail bar in Camberwell\, The Chateau seeks to change the narrative\, and bring positivity into the scene through radical queer programming in a unique and inclusive space\, especially catering to those marginalised within our community. Come and join the queer revolution in SE London! \nhttps://www.thechateau.org.uk/about \n\n\n\nCovid policy: If you’re feeling unwell please stay at home. We want to create a considerate enviroment for everyone involved

SUMMARY:COLLECTIVE ATTENTION: ANARCHIC ACTION PRESENTS: SITE OF UNION
DESCRIPTION:RESIDENCY FOLLOWED BY A PUBLIC SHARING\nCollective Attention: Anarchic Action is a project gathering of 8 action-based performance artists. It is a culmination. Emerging from a longing to be in-relation\, this assembly has been formed and held in arduous times. It is a chance to commune and confer. Through weekly co-learning sessions the artists have shared methodologies and strategies. It is a non-hierarchical environment where each artist has been able to both teach and learn. Together they see what can be found in the with\, to and between. \n\n\n\nThe ensemble collective includes: Benjamin Ivy\, Jess Heritage\, Vivian Chinasa Ezugha\, Jasper Llewellyn\, Monstera Deliciosa\, Selina Bonelli and is activated by Eleanor Dalzell Jenyns and Kate Stonestreet. It has been made possible by the generous offer of time and space provided by Ugly Duck. \n\n\n\nOperating since 2012\, Ugly Duck is a London based arts organisation that supports underrepresented voices and emerging artists. Their programme enables makers\, community groups\, professionals and the public to come together around unique cultural experiences and curated events. They have converted a beautiful empty Victorian warehouse in SE1 into a busy creative space which became\, and still is\, the home to countless rising artists. \n \nWe invite you to witness Site of Union; the convergence of these distinct practices as the artists perform together over 4 hours. In the warehouse space of Ugly Duck’s Garage\, pockets of action will emerge\, converge and dissipate. Over 4 hours\, 8 artists will perform simultaneously. Each artists’ attention will wax and wane. There may be surges of activity; or images that evolve slowly. There will be moments of excitement and time for reflection. We will be together; acting alone. \n \nAccess: \nThere is a ramp into the Hub space and the performance area is all on one level. Seating will be available throughout the event space. If you have any issues please talk to a member of the event team. \nContent note: Nudity – Blood – cutting \nNo one will be turned away for lack of funds. Please email stonestreet.kate@gmail.com for more details. \n \nCovid statement: \nAttendees are encouraged to wear a mask when inside the performance space. \nWe also recommend taking a lateral flow test on the day. Please do not attend if your test shows a positive or unclear result. In this circumstance we can provide a refund for your ticket.

SUMMARY:LOST + FOUND
DESCRIPTION:AN INTERDISCIPLINARY ARTS RESIDENCY AND RESEARCH PROGRAMME\, INVESTIGATING NEW WAYS OF COLLABORATING VIRTUALLY AND ENGAGING AUDIENCES ACROSS GEOGRAPHICAL BOUNDARIES\n\nAUGUST 12TH – SEPTEMBER 24TH 2021 \nNairobi/ Barcelona/ Accra/ Kampala/ Berlin/ Dar es Salaam/ Bangalore/ Gaborone/ London \nHow can we connect and collaborate with other creatives in meaningful ways that push our artistic practice? \nEast African Soul Train (EAST) – a pop-up residency centred around a journey on Tanzania’s historic railway – founded in 2016 and stewarded by experimental artist Gigi Hepp\, seeks to explore just that. However\, the fourth edition\, scheduled for summer 2020\, was rendered impossible because of the global pandemic. The increased use of virtual platforms has opened up opportunities for expanding networks and working with new people\, but some of the powerful\, affective and generative qualities of physical experiences have been lost in this translation. \nThis interdisciplinary artist residency and research programme – produced by EAST and supported by African Culture Fund\, Goethe Institut Tanzania and Goethe Zentrum Kampala – kicks off on the 12th August and will bring virtual and offline worlds together in experimental ways\, investigating how key elements of this intense journey\, which catalyses connection\, collaboration and cutting-edge work across geographies and disciplines\, can be adapted and translated using low-tech technology and gamified approaches. \n\n \n\nThe residency will engage 13 cutting-edge contemporary artists from across Africa\, India and Europe working in different disciplines (theatre/technology/visual art/music/fashion/poetry) including Delasi Nunana (Ghana)\, Ibiye Camp (UK/Nigeria)\, Chief Nyamweya (Kenya) and Diya Naidu (India). Over the course of five weeks artists will be guided through and invited to co-create a process virtually that inspires them to play\, to share perspectives\, to challenge their peers\, take risks and create new collaborative work\, for on and offline audiences. The residency explores the theme ‘lost + found’: “At a time when the world is experiencing a global sense of loss\, we want to explore both loss and regeneration from a personal and communal perspective. How can our artistic practices help us un-pack the pieces and re-imagine new futures?” explains Artistic Director Maïmouna Jallow. \nThis is an experimental residency: we want to understand what works for artists – what enables them to connect\, collaborate and catalyse new artistic practice virtually – as well as what doesn’t. According to Creative Producer Dr Poppy Spowage\, who is leading the research component: ‘we are inviting artists to join us as researchers\, documenting and debriefing our experiences collaboratively\, to share insights with a wide range of stakeholders and contribute to rethinking international programming in the future’. \nWhat we will produce together:\nA vibrant network of connected creatives working across three different continents;\nnew interdisciplinary creative work;\na hybrid (virtual/physical) performance exploring new ways to share work with audiences;\na collaborative research report and webinar to document our learnings and share artists experiences with a wide range of stakeholders and through media partners. \nFurther Details on Collaborating Artists (Alphabetic Order):\nCheckmate Mido: Performing Artist/Musician/Poet/Actor/Beatboxer (Kenya)\nChief Nyamweya: Illustrator/Animator (Kenya)\nDelasi Nunana: Musician/Singer/MC (Ghana)\nDiya Naidu: Choreographer/Dancer (India)\nGigi Hepp: Musician/Visual Artist/Filmmaker (Berlin/Kenya)\nIbiye Camp: Mixed-Media Artist/Architect/Fashion Designer (UK/Sierra Leone)\nKat Kol Kes: Performance Artist/Musician/Writer (Botswana)\nKevin Karanja: Digital mixed media artist (Kenya)\nLilian Nagabbala: Creative artist/Model/Stylist/Dancer/Choreographer (Uganda)\nMaïmouna Jallow: Storyteller/Playwright/Theatre & Film Director (Kenya/Spain)\nPamela Enyonu: Mix-media/Photography/Visual Art (Uganda)\nValerie Amani: Curator/Mix-Media Artist (Tanzania)\nZuhura the African Lioness: Poet/Visual Artist/Singer/Activist (Tanzania) \n \nFurther details on EAST and Partners:\nEast African Soul Train: a pop-up residency and creative adventure on East Africa’s historic tracks\, bringing together artists\, stakeholders and audiences from different disciplines and geographies to expand artistic practice\, foster collaborations\, build inclusive networks and reimagine perspectives (https://www.eastsoultrain.global/ @EastSoulTrain).\nFreehand Studios: a visual arts and education company committed to the positive transformation of African society through socially impactful content and experiences creating compelling\, inclusive and culturally relevant content in the form of illustrated books\, graphic novels\, animations and creative education courses (https://www.freehandmovement.com @ freehandstudioske) \nPositively African: an arts and media company creating content and curating events which celebrate African stories and heritage. SUMMARY:TERMINAL BY RCA
DESCRIPTION:TERMINAL BY RCA – EXHIBITION\n\nTerminal is not where; it’s when. When flights were indefinitely delayed. When the desolated underground acted out dystopias\, devoid of passengers. When communities dispersed across the globe\, separated by miles and time Zones. When confinement. When it felt like the end — terminus from Latin. \nFor the neo-nomads\, lobby-room dwellers\, coffee-shop inhabitants — creatures of the transient who thrive on our positional instability — the global lockdown was paralysing in its impasse. What does transit mean after a year of standstill? When in confinement energy is a limited resource\, what can we afford to create? When art is deemed nonessential\, how can sacrifices and compromises inform new values in the work we take into the post-Covid world — what is essential? \nRCA Visual Communication 2021 graduates are pleased to introduce Terminal\, a concept-led final year show happening at the Ugly Duck from 27- 30 June 2021. \nFollowing the life and work of over 59 Visual Communicators\, Terminal showcases essential works produced during (and in response to) the unprecedented times. This show unpacks the student experience of spending over a year in a terminal-like space\, and still having made it a prolific time in critical thinking and making. Visitors are invited to join this speculative space spread across nine exhibition zones: Arrivals\, Customs\, Vestibule\, Bus Stop\, Declarations\, Waiting Room (Library)\, Round Table\, Control Room and Duty-Free. \nTerminal features live performances\, installations\, moving image\, sonic-work\, expanded publishing\, whilst also dialogic events such as workshops\, experimental seminars\, poetry sessions along with live broadcasts from Export-Radio. \n27th – 30th June 2021 ( Closed on 29th June )

SUMMARY:WINGS BY LEAH KIRBY
DESCRIPTION:WINGS BY LEAH KIRBY – RESIDENCY AND INDUSTRY SHARING\n\nOn 9th July 2021 WINGS (work in progress) will be presented at Ugly Duck\, following a two-week research and development period supported by Arts Council and The Chateau. A project that has built significant momentum despite being birthed mid-pandemic\, WINGS is essential viewing for anyone interested in queer representation and intersectionality. \nWINGS is a piece of new writing by Leah Kirby\, developed as part of Soho Writers Lab and supported by Ugly Duck and The Chateau. WINGS explores power\, race\, gender and history in the queer community via it’s cast of diverse characters and personalities who flit between it’s two locations: a progressive “Queer Space” and mainstream G.A.Y-esque Soho Bar. From the 28th June to the 9th July the WINGS team are conducting a period of research and development at Ugly Duck\, culminating in a private showing to the queer theatre community on the 9th. Due to covid\, this event is limited to invited guests\, but if you would like to register your interest in the project and receive updates from the team\, please email wingsplay2021@gmail.com with your name and a short expression of interest. \nThis story is told through ‘K’ (played by Michah Holmes) who is a young gay black man navigating a matriarchal chosen family with maternal figure ‘Zaza’ (played by Porscha Presents) and sibling ‘B’(played by Len Gwyn). K finds himself in search of a different environment and gets a job at WINGS run by ‘Paul’ (played by Amelia Stubberfield) and his ‘Staff’ (played by Tamir Amar Pettet) . \nIn its essence WINGS is a coming-of-age story that delves into what it means to be black in these spaces that historically (and still do) exclude many.  As a neuro-divergent\, trans\, non-binary\, Black person Leah Kirby stepped into the scene as CYRO their drag counterpart and found family\, career and community. In their activism they have seen\, experienced\, and heard stories of exclusion\, racism\, transphobia in the very places where we are meant to be able to breathe. \nThis is a love letter\, a statement\, a truth\, a mourning\, to all the queer spaces we find ourselves in and find ourselves shut out of. And hopefully a message to a new queer space built upon the trans people of colour who risked their lives so we could have it today.    \nCreative team: \nLeah Kirby (they/them)- Lead Artist\, Writer\, CO-Director – http://www.leahkirby.strikingly.com\nTilly Bungard (She/Her)- Producer – www.tillybungard.uk\nMolly Beth Morosa (she/they) – Director – http://www.mollybethmorossa.com\nMallin Parry (Mall) (they/them) – Design – https://emparry.com/about-mallin-parry/\nBecky Barry (she/her) – BSL Interpretation \n\nSupported by Arts Council England.

SUMMARY:NIYA B / EKDYSIS
DESCRIPTION:Niya B | Ekdysis   \nSingle-channel video \nIn Greek mythology\, the seer Tiresias was allegedly transformed into a woman for seven years for disturbing two copulating snakes on Mount Cyllene. Niya B re-reads this myth from an eco-transfeminist lens through ritual performances\, workshops and sonic explorations. The project is called ‘Ekdysis’ – the biological term referring to the process of shedding the external layer of the skin in reptiles. Counteracting the traditional\, patriarchal way of manufacturing history\, Niya B engages with her own autobiography to re-envision this metamorphosis as a transgender mythopoesis\, which is directly affected by ecology\, the feminine/Other and the non-human. \n‘Ekdysis’ is an ongoing project\, which is displayed through live actions\, moving image and installations. In this iteration\, Ekdysis manifests as a single-channel video following an autoethnographic journey in the land that holds the mythological events of metamorphosis. \n \nStill from video\, Performance on site\, Mount Cyllene\, Greece. (Filming by Betty Gkountani) \nProject credits: \nThis project has been made possible with support from Arts Council National Lottery Grants\, Ugly Duck\, ]performance s p a c e [\, x-church and Fringe! Queer Film & Arts Fest. \n \nBio \nNiya B is a transfeminist artist\, working at the intersections of visual art and performance exploring themes related to ecology\, (trans)gender politics and equity in mental health. Niya uses video\, soundscapes\, text and live acts to create a meditative space of vulnerability\, affect and interdependence. \n \nSelected shows include: \nFrom Tomorrow (Tate Britain\, London); WIP: Work in Progress/Working Process (online); Cultural Institute commission (Leeds); Futureless (Somos Art\, Berlin); Ekdysis\, solo (Enclave\, London); NEoN digital arts festival (Dundee); Unfix (CCA\, Glasgow); Eco-futures festival\, Disorders\, Translucent\, Queer Artists Now\, Fringe!\, @disturbance (London); Emergency (Manchester); Trans:plant\, solo (London)\, International Print Biennale (Newcastle); 5th Moscow Biennale; 5th Thessaloniki Biennale. \nNiya was awarded with an a-n bursary and a Jerwood bursary in 2020. Ekdysis installation will feature in the publication Future Now (Aesthetica 2021). \n#ekdysis

SUMMARY:OPPORTUNITY FOR LGBTQI+ ARTISTS
DESCRIPTION:@DISTURBANCE // SOUTHWARK LGBTQI+ SPECIAL\n\nWe are over the moon to announce the support from local organisation Team London Bridge to continue our experimentation around dance\, performance\, video art and live stream with our project @Disturbance. \n@Disturbance is a platform supporting diversity\, underrepresented bodies and voices in the arts. It aims at transcending boundaries between digital & physical space using creative augmented livestream. With a full LGBTQI+ lineup of performers and video artists\, Ugly Duck wants to cultivate Southwark’s home grown talent\, organising technical workshops\, mentoring sessions and providing a platform for performances (physically if permitted and online). \n \nAfter a successful first edition in October 2020\, we are now looking for artists to be part of the second show at the end of February (exact date tbc as we are hoping to be able to open the doors to a small number of audience) \nWe are looking for 3 performers / groups to showcase works in between 10 min and 25 min. It can be an existing work that we adapt for the space and the stream or a new creation / work in progress.\nWe are also looking for 5 video artists whose work will be presented during the show in between performances. \nThe project will develop in the following steps \nCall out + Selection \nCreative Mentorship – Ugly Duck\nTechnical workshop and rehearsals – Ugly Duck\nPerformance \nSend your ideas / work / videos to submission@ugluyduck.org.uk – Call out open until 25th January.\n\nWe are also in partnership with LGBT Southwark Network for this event.
