Dance Double Bill : Sophie Brain + Tough Boy Dance Collective

16 February 23 @ 18:30 - 21:30

10£

Sophie Brain

In 1964’s Notes on Camp, dyke theorist Susan Sontag said true camp could only be artificial. But what if you’re born this way?
From etymology to choreography, mincing to magic, drag queen, dancer and life-long showgirl Sophie Brain responds to the text in a glittering tour de force of movement, gesture, costume, and questioning.
What even is camp? The answers might not be in a book.

Tough Boys Dance Collective is a queer-led dance theatre collective making contemporary, multidisciplinary choreographic works. Composed of co-founders; Sula Castle, Roseann Dendy and Daze Hingorani. Training together at Trinity Laban and consistently collaborating in different forms, TBDC was established through our like-minded approaches to themes such as self-expression within performance, and our desire to work with bold and unique aesthetics.
Pulling from each of our individual experiences, our work concerns itself with the intersections between gender, sexuality, religion, class and community.

Following their recent residency here at Ugly Duck Sophie Brain and Tough Boy Dance Collective will present some of their latest movement work as well as some moving images. Join us for this unique double bill sharing evening.
