My Blood Is My Voice

10 April @ 19:00 - 11 April @ 20:30

6£ – 18£

MY BLOOD IS MY VOICE

Explore a multisensory world built around the power of the collective human voice and how its ancestry shapes our connection to life beyond human binaries through the queer & neuroqueer lens.

your voice is a luminary guide to well trodden paths
of fractured facets in knowing
far beyond the time of flesh.
you have within you an infinite ability to hear
far beyond the body’s cochlea
how you choose to listen,
what you choose to break silence with,
holds the capacity to tear down and build worlds
worlds we might want to share
do not abandon this power

Through both improvised and composed vocal performance alongside digital visual and sculptural installation, My Blood Is My Voice invites audiences through a portal of landscapes in collective sound to explore possible futures of co-created world building when deep listening centres the experience of sharing space. After a year-long residency with Ugly Duck to develop their embodied voice work alongside building community through holding vocal & noise healing workshops, this performance seeks to showcase queer & neuro-queer futurism & the power of collective voice by inviting other voices to participate with sound if called to join.

Ticket Pricing
We have three tiers of ticket price in order to create an accessible framework for all to attend whilst still allowing the artists to be paid for their work.
If you are able to purchase a higher price ticket- you will be allowing someone on a lower income to attend. If the ticket pricing is a barrier at all for anyone, please get in touch.
Schedule
Doors open 7pm
Performance begins 730pm with a running time of approx 60 mins.
This performance contains immersive elements which invites the audience to be free in exploring the space or to experience the work in stillness.

The Project:
My Blood Is My Voice is a ritual gig theatre & vocal healing project in co-creation; exploring the queer & neuroqueer experience through ways of working with the human body as a complete instrument. Artists working on the 2024 showcase include Winter Geamhradhr, Porscha Present, Reyhan Yusuf, Tobi Adebajo, Yuki Nakayama (sound design) & Harshini Karunaratne (digital visual art) We look to work in non-hierarchical modes of writing. Devising & composing music collectively & collaboratively through shared lived experience & magical practice; we seek to deconstructing the gender binary of how the human voice should sound.

We create vocal ‘noisescapes’ collectively to explore questions:

How do we access embodied listening?

What binds and separates our voice to identity?

What permits us to speak to our ancestry?

How do we build trust and step into our collective form?
