Free
Grace Quigley is a queer multidisciplinary artist, poet, writer, performer, drag and movement artist. Their work explores the depths of queerness, gender, identity, community, neurodivergence, mental health, recovery and addiction.

With a background in acting, Grace graduated with a BA Hons from the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama. Their solo show ‘Bluewater’(2022) ran in Edinburgh and London to critical acclaim, receiving five stars and nominations for two Offies and a Standing Ovation award.

Grace has performed her work at prestigious stages and galleries. Including; the Roundhouse (London), The Hippodrome (Birmingham), The Sherman Theatre (Cardiff), Dulwich Picture Gallery (Ldn), National Theatre Riverbank Stage (Ldn), Gilded Balloon (Edinburgh), Royal Vauxhall Tavern (Ldn), Jewel Box Theatre (New York) and Silverlake Lounge (Los Angeles). Grace is a member of the Roundhouse Poetry Collective and the co-founder of Queer Noise CIC, a performance collective that hosts events, talks and workshops across the UK.

The project: Drawing from archival research at the Bishopsgate Institute, (working title) ‘On Our Backs’ takes inspiration from the iconic lesbian, 1980s magazine of the same name. Using its print articles and images, the performance interrogates and celebrates my obsession and experience with queer dyke femme expression, and desire. The piece includes a variety of perspectives on femme identity. Blending movement, lipsync, collage, shadow work, and cabaret-style elements, it brings the magazine’s groundbreaking, humorous, and provocative stories to life. Engaging with the audience directly, the work invites participation in exploring the same questions and ideas that defined the spirit of the original publication.
