SIGALA is a movement experiment that combines dance and fine art performance to interrogate the dynamics of socialization, kinship, time, and intergenerational connection initially prescribed through the nuclear family. Three performers deconstruct and shapeshift between the roles of “mother, father, and child,” through an ungendering and dis/embodiment of mythologies, personal histories, and the collective unconscious; locating elysium fields as adolescent liminality and hand clap games as ritual. SIGALA is directed by Anju Marie Kasturiraj, features performances by Nat Li Lin Steinhouse, Gabriel Bonet, and Maria Kontouli, and was devised together by all four of them.
